40 Knots White Seas 2016 ($19.90) – “Designed as an all-encompassing white wine to showcase the delicate, refreshing, yet complex wine style only found on Vancouver Island. Clean fruit, hand harvested and whole bunch pressed. Slow and cool fermentation in stainless steel to retain aromatics.” Made from Pinot Gris grapes. The wine is medium pear skin in colour. Medium plus youthful aroma with floral, lychee, pears and sweet spice aromas. If you decant this wine, the floral and lychee nose becomes more apple and flinty. The wine is off dry, but has bright acidity that leaves a light acidic prickle on your tongue. The wine has a round waxiness to it; a nice mouth feel. Flavours of pears, pear skin, lychee, and floral with a hint of pine needles. It has a long lingering finish with flavours of pears, apples and floral. The flavours are a better enjoyed as soon as you open the bottle. With decanting the aromas and flavours are not as intense, but still nice.
Rating: – A wine with a nice round mouth feel and bright acidity to highlight its flavours of apples, pears , floral and lychee. 4.5 stars

Terroir - Salish Sea: Soils consisting of sandy gravelly marine over sandy gravelly morainal leading to schistic clay at 12-16' depths. Elevation sloping 3° seaward. Hot to moderate day temp, cooling at night from the ocean breeze. Very mild winters, seldom reaching below 0°C. Farming: VSP (Vertical Shoot Position)/cane pruning (single and double cane). Sustainable farming methods, no synthetics and minimum organic certified products used

The wine had a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the fruit basket of flavours (apple, pear, lime, lemon). The finish is crisp and refreshing. 90

This is a really nice, easy-drinking wine, it's good for any occasion, I love all the different flavours it has going on, the stone fruits are really noticeable.

White Seas picnic pak is a convenient way to package your product. Even though I haven't used it for a picnic outing (because it's January), one bottle is enough for both my husband and I to enjoy a single glass of wine as we stay at home during Covid-19 'stay-at-home' orders. To get through this pandemic and staying at home more, we have instituted Thursday nights as "wine and appy" night. I ordered this online and it arrived safely right to my front door - how easy is that!?!

The little 4 pack is so perfect and such a nice refreshing lighter taste almost "too easy to drink" wine
