Where are you located?
We’re in the heart of sunny Vancouver Island’s Comox Valley, just 6 km from the Comox International Airport (serviced by WestJet and Air Canada) and 2.5 km from the Little River Ferry to Powell River. We’re also just over 100 km from the Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry.
What is included?
We provide a stunning venue space that is clean and well-appointed, with standard table and chairs, a fully stocked bar, and expert staff. Depending upon your rental, it may include your very own personal Day of Event Coordinator. Ask us about upgrading your table and chair, adding an archway, and decor. You’ll need to bring your officiant, caterer, flowers, and any upgraded décor.
How many celebrations do you host a year?
A lot! We have been voted the best venue space 5 years running, and there is no other venue space quite like ours. We host weddings, vow renewals, AGMs, corporate events, anniversaries, celebrations of life, retirement parties, birthday parties, any reason to party, and so much more—all year long. Our experience ensures everything is smooth and stress-free, so you can focus on celebrating.
How do I book my event?
It’s simple! Once you’ve chosen your date, email us at celebrate@40knotswinery.com and we will send you a bunch of exciting information! Once you review, fall in love with us like everyone else does, you let us know when you want to meet to discuss more details.
When is my date secured?
Your date is secured once we receive a signed contract and your deposit. We’re so excited to lock this in for you!
How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?
We require a 50% deposit at booking, with the balance due by January 30th of your celebration year.
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as possible! We’re popular, and dates go quickly. It is not uncommon for us to book two and three years in advance, and also not uncommon to have a few dates available last minute.
Can I see the wedding packages you offer?
Yes! We have Diamond packages tailored to your needs and budget from Marquis to Brilliant to Emerald. Our event specialist will help you find the perfect fit for your celebration.
Are you kid- and pet-friendly?
Absolutely! We welcome your little ones and furry friends. We want everyone to feel included in your big celebration.
Can I host both my wedding ceremony and reception at the venue?
Of course! Most of our couples do, and we’ll make sure your friends and family are entertained while you sneak off for photos. Bring your own yard games or check out ours for rental, have them take a stroll in our interpretive trail, or set up a guided wine-tasting with one of our wine ambassadors.
What’s your venue capacity?
We can accommodate intimate gatherings and larger celebrations a couple hundred guests, depending upon your preferred set-up. We’ll help you pick the perfect spot for your event.
Do you have catering services?
We offer small catering, and we have an amazing list of local caterers who specialize in everything from fresh oysters to gourmet mac and cheese. You’re welcome to bring your own licensed caterer too.
Do you allow dancing?
Allow it? We encourage it! Whether it is on the dance floor or dancing through the vineyard interpretive trail, you can go ahead and shake your booty here at 40 Knots.
Can you provide alcohol?
Absolutely! We may be an estate winery, but we are also fully licensed to serve wine, beer, spirits, cocktails, and even mocktails.
Are you an environmentally friendly venue?
Yes! In fact, we are known for it. We are Platinum Level Green Step Certified, Biosphere certified, and BC Green Business certified. We are proud to be recognized for our efforts, but what is more important to us, is continuing be sustainable in all that we do, from a clean vineyard and clean wines, to eco-friendly operations to minimizing waste, we take pride in caring for our planet—and we’d love for you to join us in these efforts!
What if it rains?
This is not an uncommon question given that we are right next a rainforest, however, it is surprisingly dry here in the summer, and so don't be surprised if you see yellow grass in the summer and bright green grass in the winter. In the summer, IF we have rain, it is usually quite light and straight down from the heavens. If it is the winter, you can get those sideways rains, but don't fret. We have you covered, and even have standby umbrellas. On Vancouver Island, we dance in the rain!
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Our vineyard terrace and bathrooms are fully wheelchair accessible, but note that the lounge requires stairs. Let us know how we can best accommodate you!
Are there separate spaces to get ready?
Yes! The lounge can be rented as a private space for your wedding party, complete with bathrooms, makeup tables, and even a kitchenette to relax before the big moment.
Do you have a list of preferred vendors?
Yes, we work with some incredible local vendors and are happy to recommend the best for your event.
What's your cancellation policy?
We understand plans change. Let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll work with you to explore other options or dates.
Can I have live music or a DJ?
Of course! We’ll work with them on sound requirements and power needs to make your event unforgettable.
How do you handle parking?
We have a large parking lot, bus parking and handicap parking spots. You will be given an allotment of spaces based on your booking. We can also recommend shuttle services to keep your guests safe, and we allow a sleep-over of their vehicle. For large groups, we do recommend having a parking attendant so that your guests are at ease when parking, and it is a great way to greet them as they arrive.
Where can I take photos?
Once everyone arrives, everyone will be snapping pics. It is stunning here. Newly wedded couples love to have their pics done in our vineyard. We can even set up a back drop for you if you wish, just speak to one of our decor specialists. There are so many spaces, so let your creativity run away with you.
Is there a gift registry?
The perfect gift is a collection of 40 Knots wine at home in your cellar so that you can reminisce your big celebration. Let us know if you want your guests to buy you wine, and we can set up an account so you go home with a cellar full!
Can you show me setup options?
Absolutely! This is so much fun. We have so many options. Your venue may be set up theatre style, boardroom, cocktail or dinner style. You can add a dancing area and a cocktail area on to your dinner style or boardroom style! Perhaps even a lounge area.
Oh, and then there is there is the decor! Speak to one of our decor specialists and they will help your vision come to life, whether it is country vineyard, steampunk or boho, we have lots to choose from. Let’s get creative!
