40 Knots Estate Wines
40 Knots is one of the largest grape wineries in the Comox Valley and one of the largest on Vancouver Island. Located on 24 stunning acres, on a slope facing the Salish Sea, we craft wines distinctly shaped by a windswept, sun-soaked microclimate. The majority of our rootstock arrived here from France in 2005. We grow four noble varieties: Pinot Noir; Pinot Gris; Chardonnay; Gamay Noir. We also grow two german hybrids: Schonberger; Siegerrebe, and one French hybrid: Pinot Auxerrois.
Schonberger and Pinot Gris fermented and aged on skins in Italian Terracotta Amphora. No intervention, just patience. When timing was perfect, grapes were pailed from Amphora and screened to stainless without pressing.

Hand harvested by our Angel Emily and rested for 46 days before basket pressing to release the sweet elixir. While sugars concentrated, I dreamt of the deliciousness that sits before you. Aromas of figs, marmalade and zesty candy lead to a seductive mouthfeel of bright tropical fruits.
