Vineyard Notes
Farming: VSP (Vertical Shoot Position)/cane pruning (single and
double cane). Sustainable farming methods, no synthetics and
minimum organic certified products used.
Production Notes
Taking in all the varieties of 40 Knots vineyard on a
terroir of glacier till soil facing the Salish Sea. This beautiful vineyard
boasts rich salt air and warmer day temperatures than surrounding
areas, with beautiful cool night ocean breezes. Minimal intervention
wine. Only fining by organic certified Bentonite clay. Minimal
effective sulphites.
Winemaker Notes
Grapes: Siegerrebe - Clone - Az 7957 -Rhineland-Palatinate
Food Pairing Notes
Mellow acidity and full-flavour pairs well with aromatic dishes, especially spicy Thai and Indian curries.
Other Notes
40 Knots Ziggy Siegerrebe 2016 ($22.90). Siegerrebe, an under-appreciated white variety, is a godsend for the cooler vineyards on Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley. An early ripening aromatic grape, Siegerrebe invariably delivers exuberant tropical aromas and flavors. This wine is an example: aromas and flavors of spice, grapefruit, and lime with a crisp, dry finish. 90.

We had a fantastic tasting at the winery today, tasting 6 wines, we liked all of them , but the Sieg was the favourite. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. A lovely experience.

40 knots is one of our favorite wineries on Vancouver Island. We love pairing Sieg with seafood and lighter meals. It has a wonderful bouquet and goes down way to easy!

This year I really favoured the Sieg for its bold, refreshing taste. It paired well with grilled local oysters, fresh greens and roasted potatoes. A lovely white wine to have ready in the fridge for guests (if it lasts!).
